Research abstract

Army structures and vehicles often suffer from corrosion and battle damage, necessitating remediation. However, Army depots and forward operating locations lack the necessary utilities, equipment, and infrastructure for efficient repairs, resulting in downtime and availability issues. to address this, VRC Metal Systems, LLC proposes the, Mobile Automated Robotic Corrosion Repair (MARCR) system.  MARCR integrates a versatile robot capable of performing essential repair tasks, including, dimensional scanning, surface preparation, machining, and final inspection.  The system utilizes a mobile robotic cold spray system for additive repair and surface functionalization. Additionally, the VRC Dragonfly™   cold spray system is employed, allowing in-situ repair with minimal thermal effects.
