Research abstract

We propose to develop a high dynamic range IR scene projector using micromachined micro Fabry-Perot tunable filter (MFPTF) and a Carbon dioxide laser to achieve a dynamic range greater than a million to one. It consists of a 512x512 array of MFPTFsprocessed by MEMS technology with on-chip control circuits. By tunable the wavelength within the laser band different intensities are transmitted and then projected onto the missile under test. Phase 1 will design with array and fabricate a sample MFPTF toevaluate its tunability. Optical communications, remote sensing and medical imaging applications.
