Research abstract

We propose to design and manufacture a MEMs scale, miniature collimated electrostatic analyzer (CEA) for spaceborne applications. This work effort will involve the development, manufacture and laboratory demonstration of new plasma instrument needed to enable constellation and small-satellite based missions. These missions will help understand the energy flow and coupling between different spatial regions in near-Earth space through simultaneous measurements of plasma parameters. This understanding is critical for management and decision making of orbital assets. By the end of this work effort, we will demonstrate this instrument at a TRL 6.
