Research abstract

The problem: flexible bladder strong enough to hold fluid slurry pumping pressure, and the interconnect system that enables stacking at low cost. Most bladders available are fabricated from sheet fabrics with control porosity, and need seaming or welding to form the tubular shape desired, which reduces strength add cost, bulk and weight. The Opportunity: Either water or air can serve as pumping fluid to fill long bladders with mud or sand depending of the geographical location. Water - or ice by itself can serve in other locations. A tubular restraining fabric with a controlled porosity bladder than can be produced in net shape without welding and seaming is desirec, and proposed. Figure 1 is a schamatic diagral of a seamless restraining fabric tube containing porous and non-porous bladders.
