Research abstract
The proposed effort will develop a Small Form Factor (SFF) MOSA interconnect architecture which can be leveraged across very small custom form factors, up to VNX+, sVPX and 3U OpenVPX form factors. The architecture will support very wide RF bandwidths and real time processing, in applications such as Electronic Warfare (EW), Radar, Command, Control, Computing, Communications, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Targeting (C5ISRT); and edge-based High-Performance Computing (HPC), on payloads such as Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Groups 1 through 3. To inform the development of the Small Form Factor MOSA interconnect architecture, Annapolis Micro Systems (Annapolis) will leverage connections with key US semiconductor suppliers, Annapolis’ knowledge of those suppliers’ technology roadmaps, as well as Annapolis’ experience in designing and building board and module level COTS systems which can be ruggedized and hardened for DoD programs. In Phase II, Annapolis will leverage previous SFF COTS designs, port them to the new SFF MOSA interconnect architecture form factor and demonstrate them on a 3U OpenVPX SOSA-aligned carrier module running a Signal Analysis Waterfall Application.
