Research abstract

Physical Sciences Inc. and the University of Arizona will develop a meta?optic?based microlens array operating in the visible range for use in digital micromirror device (DMD)?based optical projection systems. The design of the meta?optic microlens array will take advantage of recent advances in metasurface design and fabrication to provide a high degree of control over phase and amplitude of transmitted light, and will leverage the unique capabilities of metasurface-based fabrication to match the pitch and focusing power required of DMD-based projection systems without sacrificing optical performance. The fabrication process utilizes scalable foundry?compatible processes enabling large?scale production of nanostructured surfaces.
