Research abstract

In modern military operations, effective team coordination and situational awareness are crucial for mission success. The Tactical Awareness Kit (TAK) serves as a vital tool for achieving these objectives by providing real-time information sharing, collaboration, and decision-making capabilities. However, the current landscape presents challenges when it comes to integrating TAK with diverse communications infrastructure and advanced processing capabilities. This proposal aims to address the existing limitations and highlight the importance of a comprehensive solution that can seamlessly connect to multiple communication networks, leverage powerful processing capabilities, and bridge the gap between tactical communications routing and edge computing. Despite the significance of integrating tactical communications routing and edge computing capabilities, there is currently no singular commercial or government product that adequately fulfills both requirements. This gap in the market highlights the need for a comprehensive solution that seamlessly combines communication routing capabilities with advanced processing capabilities, empowering teams to enhance coordination, achieve situational awareness, and conduct edge computing for efficient decision-making. IXI develops C5ISR and embedded solutions that meet and are qualified to MIL specifications.  In this program, IXI proposes a compact, multi-networked TAK router capable of processing real-time analytics and providing tactical information for units in an area of operation.  By Phase I end, two prototypes that demonstrate the routing capability needed to handle the various networks to the TAK client will be delivered.
