Research abstract

The proposed system will consist of two major components: a window profilometer and a tracking system. For the window profilometer, either a wavefront sensor or a reflectometry system will be chosen based on performance. For the tracking system, either a deformable mirror system or a computational imaging array will be chosen based on performance. For either profilometer system, the window and atmosphere’s generated aberrated wavefront will be characterized live by the system and sent to the tracking system. For either tracking system, the tracker will correct for the aberrations determined by the profilometer live and send the live feed to a computer for characterization. Each best performing component will be combined into a system that will allow for high precision, live window profilometry and atmospheric perturbation characterization paired with a tracking system that can correct for the detected aberrations live over a single or multiple windows. Machine learning will be used in the final system to aid in object detection, verification, and tracking.
