Research abstract

SI2 Technologies, Inc. (SI2), an ARA Company, proposes to continue the development of the MORA-based antenna distribution system started on the previous Phase II program. During the proposed Phase IIB program, SI2 will build and test a more advanced software configurable, wideband, open standard architecture, antenna distribution system that will allow USSOCOM to remotely connect a series of RF receivers and transmitters to an antenna connected to the system. SI2’s system leverages OpenVPX wideband RF electronics into an interconnected distribution network, covering VHF through C-Band, and will be upgraded to a more effective, manufacturable form factor. In addition, the system will be compliant with MORA and SOSA standards, allowing for a “plug-and-play” functionality of the hardware into any SOSA compliant system. During the Phase IIB, SI2 will advance our previous work by building an upgraded prototype antenna distribution system and then test it with USSOCOM on a relevant test bed platform. SI2’s innovative solution will provide USSOCOM, other DoD sectors, and interested parties, with an antenna distribution system that combines custom OpenVPX RF distribution hardware, COTS embedded processors, and open standard software interfaces.
