Research abstract
The proposed Phase II SBIR project aims to develop and pilot a remote vehicle control system designed to optimize vehicle operations and reduce personnel requirements on Air Force bases. By retrofitting existing vehicles with advanced teleoperation technology, this innovation enables a single operator to remotely control multiple vehicles across the base from a centralized command center. The system will integrate state-of-the-art remote driving hardware, software, and communication protocols to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient remote vehicle operation. Key technical objectives include developing a robust, low-latency control interface, implementing fail-safe mechanisms to maintain vehicle control during communication disruptions, and conducting extensive testing to validate system performance and reliability. The Phase II effort will culminate in a pilot implementation at a designated Air Force base, demonstrating the system's capabilities in a real-world setting and paving the way for broader deployment across military installations.
