Research abstract

The U.S. and its allies confront heightened risks to space superiority from adversarial nations, as detailed in the 2022 DIA study. China and Russia seek to exploit perceived U.S. space reliance, while Iran and North Korea enhance electronic warfare capabilities. Space Domain Awareness (SDA) is identified as crucial for maintaining space superiority. USSPACECOM emphasizes the need for analytical depth and underscores the importance of industry collaboration, particularly with commercial entities. HawkEye 360 (HE360) responds with a targeted SDA solution. Our commercial space-based RF analytics capabilities are designed to detect, identify, and geolocate Signals of Interest (SOIs). In the proposed Phase II Follow-On effort, the objective is to provide a resilient capability, pinpointing terrestrial and space-based RF emitters/threats and delivering operationally relevant insights into their status, parametric data, targets, and activity patterns.
