Research abstract

We propose a new multi-channel, multi-static SAR approach for estimating target six degree of freedom (6-DOF) parameters without the use of prominent point tracking. Our approach uses novel MTI and SAR-based analysis of data from a small cluster of multi-channel, multi-static radars. Our approach decomposes 6-DOF into two different classes of components: target velocities, and rotation rates, which includes yaw, pitch, and roll rates. We show that it is possible to estimate moving target 6-DOF components by exploiting multi-static enhancements to MTI, SAR-processing, and multi-static coherence from a small cluster of coherent radars placed at appropriate geometries.
