Research abstract

The objective of this SBIR program is to execute a detailed technical design and hardware delivery for a high-bandwidth, low-SWaP, radiation-tolerant space mesh bridge for deployment on low-earth-orbit satellites. The proposed technology solution implements a novel hardware-software and network architecture that provides extreme reliability, maximizes performance and SWaP efficiency, and minimizes operational costs. Capabilities include advanced high-bandwidth mesh routing, network forming and healing/annealing, fault recovery, and hardware reconfigurability.  As a Direct to Phase II, this effort will leveraging prior feasibility study, proof-of-concept development, and customer discovery to support a ground-based hardware prototype deliverable supporting up to 10Gbps line speed, with a defined path for software-defined hardware capable of achieving 100Gbps line speed with TRL advancement and integration into a program of record.
