Research abstract

Chinese magnets in our supply chain threaten national security – recent DoD policy prohibits Chinese involvement for all rare earth magnet manufacturing. These magnets are currently used in Unmanned Arial Vehicles (UAVs), fighter jet engines and other aircraft components, missile guidance systems, underwater mine detection, antimissile defense, and space-based satellite power and communication systems in the United States. The production of these critical defense technologies is now extremely vulnerable and needs a magnet alternative free from supply chain interruptions that threaten the safety and security of our nation. Niron Magnetics’ Clean Earth Magnets® offer a sustainable, cost-effective, and efficient alternative to China’s rare earth magnets. Clean Earth Magnets® are manufactured in the United States from locally sourced material and are not reliant on a disruptive supply chain like rare earth magnets. They’re made from environmentally clean, abundant and affordable commodity raw material inputs. We will execute a 3-month systematic an intensive feasibility study of our Clean Earth Magnets® with AFRL/RX to establish the scope of modifications needed for the Phase II to adapt the core technology to fit the End-User's mission.
