Research abstract
Ground Effect Technology combines cutting-edge developments in autonomy with commercial-off-the-shelf materials, systems,Āand technology to provide the first-ever unmanned Ground Effect Vehicles (GEVs) delivery vessels. GEVs are up to 50% more energy efficient than similar-sized aircraft and 10x faster than surface maritime transport. GEVs offer an affordable, fast, small, and lowerĀsignature maritime craft that enable littoral maneuver and provide reliable logistical support in complex operational environments.ĀThe proposed solution is focused on supplying a distributed network across expansive environments by combining the benefits ofĀautonomous navigation with the speed and efficiency of GEVs. This innovative vehicle will conduct open ocean trials in late 2024 andĀbe capable of carrying 500 lbs of cargo at speeds up to 120 mph and a rage of 300 NM.
