Research abstract
Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) units like the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) Small Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Requirements Branch (AFSOC/A5KU) have a pressing need for multi-UAS deployment in communication-denied environments. In a time where frontline activities are increasingly fast-paced and harder to detect, multi-UAS operations are a key to maximizing ISR mission success while minimizing human casualties with manned ISR vehicles. However, current multi-UAS deployment approaches for ISR use simplistic manual waypoint missions to execute ISR missions, leaving the multi-UAS systems unable to cooperate with friendly UAS and vulnerable to counter-UAS measures and disturbances. Thus, Multi AI proposes to adapt its autonomy software platform to enhance current multi-UAS systems with cooperative and adversarial search capabilities in ISR.
