Research abstract

The Air Force is losing critical skills positions due to private sector competition, PTSD/TBI, injuries, and burnout. Existing approaches like exit interviews and surveys are reactive, lack hard empirical data, and cannot proactively identify who plans to exit the Air Force, why, and when. As a consequence the Air Force loses personnel in critical skills positions and is unable to proactively engage personnel before they decide to leave. To address this challenge, Ār4 Technologies proposes its XEM Retention platform to analyze personnel data and identify individuals at risk of separation, enabling proactive retention strategies. The r4 XEM platform is a highly automated, rapidly deployable AI/ML software platform that utilizes a proprietary ōDigital Twinö capability to make predictions, recommendations, or optimizations on which candidates are most likely to separate based on data categories such as AFSC, home origin, education/training, duty station history, and more. r4 Technologies will conduct a Phase I feasibility study to determine how to modify and adapt the platform to Air Force retention applications in order to reduce turnover in critical skills positions.
