Research abstract

Our proposed solution, Flight Optimal, is a scheduling optimizer that can generate an optimal daily schedule identifying the best mix of aircraft, instructors, and pilot training needs to achieve one or several goals: maximum utilization of resources, maximum student training time, and minimum resources. The optimization engine of Flight Optimal is a mixed integer mathematical problem of resource allocation that intelligently allocates and schedules training aircraft, instructors, and facilities to maximize resource allocation and training time while considering various constraints, including aircraft maintenance requirements, instructor expertise and availability, weather conditions and limitations, academics, and student training progress. Flight Optimal utilizes artificial intelligence-driven algorithms, data analytics, optimization techniques, and a cloud-based architecture to deliver scalable, accessible and optimized daily training schedules to flight schools. The features of Flight Optimal include: Advanced optimization algorithms: mathematical models of flight school operations and employs mixed integer optimization algorithms to identify the best possible schedule Multiple optimization objectives: select among maximum utilization of resources, minimum resources, and maximum student training time Constraint management and adaptation: selection and enforcement of different types of constraints that reflect a dynamic operational environment, from weather disruptions, student and instructor needs, and aircraft and resources unscheduled events?????? Data integration: integration of optimization engine, native database (aircraft, facilities, instructors, and students), and existing databases and data management systems. The result is a responsive schedule and robust reporting and analytics capability able to assess performance of training programs, resource utilization, and compliance with regulatory and operational requirements. Real-time adaptation to changing scheduling priorities, unscheduled events (driven by aircraft, training facilities, instructors, or students), and weather. Human-in-the-loop control: review and edit an optimized schedule before publishing and making it available to users. This added level of control allows schedulers to modify the scheduling solutions based on last-minute information and even manually recreate a schedule if needed.??????? Scenario analysis and data-driven decision-making: analyze and estimate future resource needs and limitations for changes to training curricula and goals. Cloud-based architecture: highly scalable system that allows for growing fleet of aircraft, instructors, courses, and students continuous improvement to scheduling algorithms reduced maintenance and costs by eliminating the need to support multiple platforms and utilizing only the level of resources needed to support the right-sized operations
