Underactuated Companion Drone for Legged Robot

Vertiq is a U.S. supplier of industrial-grade propulsion systems, specializing in advanced motor control and propellers for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). The companyĀproposes developing a proof of concept vehicle that can station, launch, and land on a Ghost Robotics V60 quadruped unmanned ground vehicle (Q-UGV) to enhance AF Security Forces and AFSOC capabilities extending ISR and sensor range. Vertiq is uniquely positioned to create this companion drone because of its innovative, patented 'underactuated' propulsion technology that enables a wide range of advantages over existing sUAS platforms. The successful development and production of this vehicle and integration with a Q-UGVĀwill provide an additional layer of security and protection to Air Force bases, while also reducing the risk to Airmen tasked with tedious or hazardous duties. This will entice PEOs, such as ISR SOF, Mission Combat Support, and Agile Combat Support to embrace Q-UGVs and their companion sUAS.
