Research abstract
The U.S. Army is critically limited in its ability to incorporate the social dynamics of diverse, multicultural, and multilingual populations into its planning processes. Population dynamics form a critical component of the operating environment, impacting everything from operational planning and assessment to support to tactical forces. However, the ArmyÆs inability to quickly understand and respond to rapid changes to the social environment places missions and personnel at risk. The new, innovative, and novel, Social Media Narrative Analysis for Rapid Engagement (SNARE) capability offers operators at all levels of war a significantly enhanced level of situational awareness of populations resulting in the ability to integrate information into operational art. SNARE leverages advanced Deep Nural Network (DNN) enabled AI to perform enhanced social media content characterization to unprecedented levels of integrated information providing intelligence and information warfare operators tracible data and knowledge to be used in military planning and assessment. Through extensive analysis of alternatives and initial proof-of-approach development, the team of Pacific Impact Zone, LLC and Cohere Solutions, LLC will assess and evaluate component technologies, system performance, scalability, and optimal design architectures for U.S. Army employment. This technology and user-risk reduction study will lay the foundation for operational prototype development.
