Research abstract

Development of a digital flatsat is imperative for the efficient design, development, and testing of satellites. It can even aid in the diagnosis and resolution of on-orbit challenges with accurate modeling, simulation, and emulation of the satellite components and environment. This facilitates the need for a digital flatsat architecture easily deployed in a cloud-based environment that has high-fidelity orbit simulation, hardware emulation, flight software modeling, advanced data visualization and analysis capabilities, and ability to send commands during the simulation.  The principal goal of this Phase I effort is to design a digital flatsat architecture and leverage existing and open-source technologies, along with the expertise at Ten One Aerospace, to create an end-to-end prototype. A Design Reference Mission (DRM) will be defined to showcase the utility and features of the digital flatsat. A user-friendly user-interface (UI) will allow for a configuration and control of the simulation, hardware and flight software, and visualization of the results. Additionally, there is a data manager that will control the interfaces between the different components to aid in integration and addition of capabilities. The final product will be a digital flatsat prototype that will enable the ease of design, development, and Validation and Verification (V&V) of satellites.  ???????
