Research abstract

Modern warfare increasingly relies on interconnected kill webs of sensors, shooters, and C2 nodes across air, land, sea, space, and cyber domains. Assessing emerging force designs requires modeling and simulation frameworks that capture these complex multi-domain kill webs. However, gaps exist between engineering-focused model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools and campaign-level agent-based modeling and simulation (ABMS) platforms. This project aims to develop an integrated MBSE-ABMS environment to enable realistic system-specific models as ABMS agents. The proof of concept work will demonstrate interfacing MBSE models, ABMS simulations, and advanced visualization capabilities. A notional use case applies the integrated toolkit to explore space system upgrades' operational impacts on relevant space enabled multi-domain scenario. The envisioned MBSE-ABMS integration will provide decision-makers clear insights into cross-domain ripple effects from engineering changes and component degradation.
