Research abstract

Merit will deliver an interoperable digital software badge capability that can securely prove a first responder’s identity and qualifications onsite, online or offline. The competitive advantage of our product is that it will diminish the challenges with communication and coordinated access to information that currently plagues the digital credential domain. Additionally, Merit’s solution will align with international standards for identification and credentialing of citizens and workers. Our competitive advantage is achieved by the work that Merit has done with our platform to date in terms of providing a no-code/low-code means for issuing organizations to design and implement new forms of credentials. Once integrated with international standards, our platform will deliver a new means for self-service credentialing systems that can leverage the large array of domain-specific linked data vocabularies for defining credential subjects, credentialing pathways, and use-case-specific metadata to be incorporated seamlessly into the credential ecosystem.
