Research abstract

Cobalt Solutions’ cellular network surveillance product line, the CNG2000 series, provides real-time detection, decoding and geolocation capabilities for 4G and 5G cellular infrastructure. Cobalt’s technology has been successfully demonstrated across multiple 5G NR bands (ranging from 600MHz to 3.7GHz and at 28 GHz and 39 GHz), from multiple operational altitudes (up to 20,000 ft), and over a variety of flight path profiles. This project will leverage Cobalt’s existing CNG cellular sensing technology to help realize USSOCOM’s mission objectives with special focus on reconfigurability. Cobalt will perform R&D to reconfigure, adapt, and customize the CNG to more fully address USSOCOM’s airborne surveillance mission and provide JTWS/AFSOC with an innovative airborne 4G/5G ISR capability tailored to their requirements and to meet emerging threats and requirements. The R&D in this project will also create opportunities to leverage SOCOM’s ongoing digitally steered antenna R&D and create open architecture designs to support a variety of SOF platforms. The work proposed in this Sequential Phase II will prepare Cobalt to provide USSOCOM and AFSOC capability to perform cellular survey of remote network equipment. Cobalt will be positioned to deliver systems into SOF inventory for use in manned and/or unmanned SOF platforms.
