Research abstract

The C-130 fleet, critical to the Air Force's operations, has faced sustainability challenges due to aging infrastructure and increasing parts support requirements. In response, the Air Force initiated a program in 2015 focusing on production and sustainment-support, involving collaborative efforts from Air Sustainment Center Air Logistic Centers at Warner Robins and Wright-Patterson Air Force Bases, and broader Air Force Material Command parts initiatives. The Air Force Special Operations Command A4 Office (AFSOC A4) also plays a vital role, delivering expeditionary capabilities through technology development, acquisition management, testing, evaluation, and sustainment of all Air Force weapon systems for the Special Operations Command. AFSOC A4's efforts are integral to maintaining the United States' status in Special Operations Air Force units. A pivotal strategy for AFSOC A4 is optimizing the C-130 platform's supply chain, utilizing an AI-powered Digital Supply Chain Twin. This tool improves supply chain efficiency and efficacy, providing real-time insights, reducing errors, and streamlining processes, thereby enhancing readiness and equipment availability for the Warfighter. The Digital Twin technology, developed by Vibronyx for the C-130 supply chain, aligns with the Agile Combat Employment (ACE) framework, enhancing logistics and sustainment operations through predictive analytics and real-time data. In POSTURE, Vibronyx's technology ensures data-driven operational commencements and provides a comprehensive understanding of the supply chain, vital for effective operations in diverse environments. In SUSTAINMENT, the Digital Twin anticipates parts requirements, identifies disruptions, and suggests resolutions, embodying a proactive and agile logistics approach. This foresight optimizes War Reserve Materiel (WRM) deployment and enables AFSOC A4 and partners to diversify supply avenues, enhancing unpredictability and scalability in operations. For the Department of the Air Force (DAF) and the broader Department of Defense (DoD), integrating Vibronyx's technology brings heightened readiness and operational effectiveness. The Digital Twin's predictive capabilities ensure preparedness, mitigating supply chain issues that could impede missions. Additionally, refining logistics, reducing errors, and introducing efficiency contribute to the Air Force and DoD's operational fluidity and effectiveness. The AI-powered Digital Supply Chain Twin of the C-130 supply chain significantly advances the Air Force's operational capabilities, promising improved overall readiness and capability for the Warfighter.
