Research abstract

Odyne provides hybrid electric drive systems for medium and heavy-duty trucks, all-electric export power from battery systems to replace the need for engine-powered generators and zero-emission solutions for the operation of truck-mounted equipment using electric Power Take-Off (ePTO) units. Odyne’s ePTO and PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) systems are the only electrification systems approved to interface with automatic transmissions for trucks from Allison Transmission, the primary provider of transmissions for medium and heavy-duty vehicles within the Department of Defense. This project aims to study the use of electrified power take-off (ePTO) and hybrid drive system technology on non-tactical medium and heavy duty vehicles that utilize transmissions from Allison Transmission.
