Research abstract

During this project, Source Approval will be sought for critical components of aging weapons systems, where the OEMs are no longer in business, or the current number of suppliers is limited, leading to increased costs to the government. Source Approval RequestĀ(SAR) packages will be developed from Technical Data Packages (TDPs) when available. When TDPs are unavailable,ĀReverse Engineering (RE) practices will be applied to develop TDPs and submit a SAR package.ĀThe packages will be developed and submitted to the relevant Engineering Authority using a proven Reverse Engineering and SAR development process. DLA is attempting to develop qualified sources to improve product availability and provideĀcompetition for reduced lead time, and cost, as well as address lifecycle performance issues. TheseĀSARs will target these urgently needed items to relieve issues in procuring these items.
