Research abstract
Leveraging our expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and the transportation industry, we are innovating an unprecedented methodology for gathering granular, real-time freight data within the US supply chain. GenLogs is deploying a nationwide network of low-cost ‘virtual gates’ across major freight lanes which use high-end cameras and AI to extract vital data from every passing truck and trailer. With just 300 of these sensors, known as Tridents, GenLogs will collect multiple datapoints on over 90% of tractor-trailers transiting the middle mile in the US. This data is relevant on multiple layers of the supply chain ecosystem – to include illuminating real-time capacity to reduce the 35% of deadhead truck miles. One Trident sensor can collect on more than 100,000 unique trucks from over 8,000 fleets in one month. With Tridents installed at US Air Force Bases’ gate-in/gate-out locations, we will be able to optimize total visibility of the USAF’s freight supply chain system. The total network of deployed Tridents will be known as “Argos.” In addition to the Argos data, we have access to over 50,000 traffic cameras throughout the United States. By fusing data from our proprietary sensors with the traffic camera data, we are able to discern daily volume of tractor-trailers, freight capacity, and frequency of traffic. Data from IoT devices and other collection can also be integrated, making this foundational freight intelligence dataset even more robust and insightful to USAF logisticians.
