Research abstract

Solvus Global, partnering with QuesTek Innovations, will develop customized Al7050 as representative AL7xxx powders that meet chemistry allowables for the powders and match MMPDS targets by optimization of powder composition, microstructure, size distribution, and morphology. Powder development will be carried out through various novel approaches enabled by synergistic combination of experimental powder and cold spray investigation by Solvus with computational, physics-based materials modeling/design by QuesTek. A design framework that captures key powder process-structure-property (PSP) relationships will also be built by the team to guide and accelerate the development effort. The developed powders will be cold sprayed in N2 followed by standard characterization and testing for down-selection and performance demonstration
