Research abstract

The technical objective of Phase I of the N232-102 topic is to demonstrate a high-performance cold spray system for depositing structural quality repair materials for aluminum and titanium without using helium as the carrier gas. In Phase I Inovati proposes to design a system based on our Kinetic Metallization-High Dynamic Range system to operate on nitrogen with nozzles optimized for high particle acceleration. This system is expected to be capable of depositing aluminum, titanium, and high-strength steel with less than 1% porosity which will provide the means for developing structural repairs for military and commercial applications.
