Research abstract

In future combat operations, GPS will be routinely denied and active sensors like LiDaR and radar will be easily detected. The Army needs a robust solution for Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) that does not depend on such sensors. Compound Eye proposes VIDAS-SLAM to enable manned and unmanned ground vehicles to keep track of their position day and night using only undetectable sensors. VIDAS-SLAM is aligned with 3 Army priority areas: Contested Autonomy, AI/ML, & Sensors.
