Research abstract

The emergence of new technology on the battlefield has created a new level of complexity in warfare that makes the successful execution of mission functions more difficult than ever. Despite the ever-increasing data available to decision-makers back at headquarters, operators must often wait for slow-moving intelligence analysis that doesn't match their fast-paced tactical environments. Airmen in tactical environments must be able to analyze an increasing number of variables while not losing the speed of decision-making. Operators require actionable intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) to make decisive data-driven decisions without lengthy analysis periods. ISR can be collected in a variety of ways, but oftentimes warfighters utilize manned and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) to collect the intelligence needed to execute missions. The data is collected through platform sensors, sent to a separate location for analysis, and then distributed. This process is labor intensive and can take hours to days to complete, leaving operators at a standstill without proper intelligence. Specifically, tactical operatorsĺ missions often lead them far from headquarters, where access to intelligence support is limited. In non-permissive environments without requisite manning and infrastructure, airmen must be able to organically process and analyze data at the edge without reliance on backhaul capabilities and without bringing scaled processing hardware into the field. ???????arsight by Reveal is a software solution that provides users with maneuver quality near real-time 3D modeling in network-constrained environments. Users can access an AI-powered toolkit that includes features like line-of-sight analysis, route planning, helicopter landing zone surveying, and terrain analysis to perform analysis and better understand the environment. Farsight is both sensor and aerial platform agnostic, meaning that users can process data from UAS Group 1-5 sensors. All processing is completed at the edge, meaning no network connection is required. With Farsight, operators can access actionable intelligence on timelines that can be measured in minutes versus the hours and days they are used to, making it unlike any other commercial-off-the- shelf or government-off-the-shelf solution on the market.
