Research abstract

Expanding upon a successful Phase I program, the Triton team will further develop an advanced low-level parachute system to enhance the personnel airdrop capability of the USMC in this Phase II effort.  The system will enable parachutists to exit at lower altitudes and at higher airspeed than is currently feasible with existing equipment.  Features, concepts, and prototypes developed in the Phase I effort will be refined and iterated upon to best meet the needs of the application (optimizing for pilot weights, compatibility with personal gear and aircraft systems, preferred deployment method(s), etc.).  The resulting system prototypes will be tested and demonstrated to facilitate near-term validation, qualification, and transition.
