Research abstract
Defense Need: The U.S. Air Force 2030 Science and Technology Strategy’s vision is “An Air Force that dominates time, space, and complexity in future conflict across all operating domains to project power and defend the homeland.” The document specifically calls for advanced technology solutions along the following five strategic capabilities: 1. Global Persistent Awareness, 2. Resilient Information Sharing, 3. Rapid, Effective Decision-Making, 4. Complexity, Unpredictability, and Mass and 5. Speed and Reach of Disruption and Lethality. As the Air Force prioritizes technological advancement, the demand for portable and sustainable energy resources increases. Power storage and generation are fundamental to all five strategic capabilities outlined in the USAF S&T 2030 manual. For this phase 2 project, we have partnered with Ellsworth Air Force Base and the 28th Bomb Wing, a subordinate unit of the Air Force Global Strike Command. To meet Ellsworth’s national defense mission need, we will adapt our current product line to bring sustainable, renewable, power storage and generation capabilities to the support organizations and infrastructure associated with 28th Bomb Wing’s off-grid locations. Technical Merit: Inergy is a leader in consumer portable solar generator products. We offer the most lightweight, compact and portable energy storage systems on the market, ranging from 25kWh handheld personal units (weighing 10 oz) that charge personal devices like phones and tablets to “troop-level” systems that provide 1.5 kW of continuous power and energy storage capacities ranging from 1kWh(26 pounds) to 100 kWh of power. Inergy's current market-available field-hardened systems are leading in the industry. Furthermore, one of the most important differentiators we offer to the DoD market is our fully U.S. based production and distribution capability. We are an Idaho based business with well established strategic partnerships across the Energy industry to include Utah State University’s Energy Technology Research and Innovation Lab, Idaho National Lab, and Raytheon. Commercialization: Inergy is the industry leader in compact, lightweight, long-lasting portable and renewable solar power generators as evidenced by our $5.6M in sales in 2021. We have received more than 5,000 pre-orders for our Flex products and accessories—representing over $13M in revenue and prior to that, our Kodiak and Apex products, generated over $12 million in revenue. On top of that, we maintain a loyal customer base of over 25,000 individuals across the globe. We completed our $3M Seed Investment Round in mid-April 2021. In April 2022, we started fundraising for a $10M Series A Investment Round.
