Research abstract

Inergy is a leader in consumer portable solar generator products. We offer the most lightweight, compact and portable energy storage system on the market, ranging from 25kWh handheld personal units (10 oz) to ôSQUADö level systems that provide 1.5 kW of continuous power and energy storage capacities ranging from 1kWh (26 pounds) to 100 kWh of power. Inergy offers the most lightweight, compact and portable energy storage systems available. Our core differentiation for the DoD market is a fully U.S.-based production and distribution channel and our use of Gallium Nitride (GaN)-based inverters and embedded microgrids in our energy storage systems. Inergy has created a dual-use technology with state-of-the-art renewable energy production and storage solutions that fill critical capability gaps by improving energy resilience in both the private and public sectors. Inergy is a leader in innovative consumer portable solar production and achieved over $14M in gross sales in the last two years (2021-2022). Autonomous sensor platforms such as the Q-UGV can be force multipliers, however, they are reliant on reliable and sustainable energy sources to ensure operational success. Current solutions do not factor in renewable energy resources, rely on access to grid-power or fuel-based power generators and require human intervention to ensure unmanned assets remain mission-ready. We propose to adapt our current renewable energy products to develop an Unmanned Asset-Portable Charging Station (UA-PCS) that will act as a proof of concept for current and future Quad-legged Unmanned Ground Vehicles (Q-UGV) and other robotic assets. The UA-PCS will advance the DAF S&T 2030 goal to improve our nation's ability to "overwhelm adversaries through a collaborative and autonomous network of systems and effects." The goal of Inergy is to expand the capabilities of sensor data platforms such as the Q-UGV through a platform-agnostic charging solution to extend the reach of autonomous and semi-autonomous sensors.
