Research abstract

Since 2015, Mattermost has fielded its software with 1000’s of companies and organizations around the world because our software is open source and secure.  However, large enterprises need solutions that are adapted and customized for their needs, and that is why so many innovative companies have deployed self-hosted, tailor made enterprise versions of the Mattermost collaboration platform.  Specifically, Mattermost DevOps / Remote Work solutions have been implemented with major clients like Tesla, Bungie, Wargaming.Net, Qualcomm, Deloitte, and many others—which yielded more than $32 million in revenue over the past two years.   Mattermost is the only all-in-one solution for developers to collaborate without sacrificing security. Our integrated platform is designed around Channel-based collaboration that connects people, processes, and tools. Kanban-style Boards make managing projects easier than ever, while Playbooks provide prescribed, streamlined workflows that drive reliable and repeatable outcomes based on individual team processes. With nearly 40% of the average workweek being wasted due to tool fragmentation, manual tasks, and fragile workflows, it’s clear that general-purpose collaboration tools just aren’t made for the challenges that security-conscious enterprises face every day. Mattermost answers the call, enabling large organizations to align their teams, tools, and processes across each stage of the coordination and collaboration process. The non-defense commercial enterprise Mattermost software features one unified platform for digital operations, bringing together your team communication, task and project management, and workflow orchestration into one place.  Our rich ecosystem of commercial/community contributions and customizations allow operational teams to work the way they want.  Additionally, the Mattermost platform orchestrates workflows to deliver results faster with fewer mistakes, enabling users to choose from self-managed or secure cloud deployment options that meet organizational security and compliance needs. Mattermost goes beyond chat, delivering a suite of tightly-integrated productivity solutions matched to common R&D and operational processes – from planning sprints to managing releases to resolving complex challenges.  We are the only unified solution with a shared set of platform services and a powerful UI structured around channel-based communications, checklist-based process automation, and card-based task and project management.  The platform is supported by a rich ecosystem of community-driven apps, an open API, and a developer framework--allowing organizations to partner with Mattermost to customize and enhance the enterprise software to meet unique needs.
