Research abstract

During the phase 1 STTR, Orb Aerospace completed a feasibility study for a 2nd generation, two passenger Orb that exceeds all performance requirements of the Agility Prime eVTOL areas of Interest and the first graduating class of Orbs with a 500 lb payload, 1000 nm of range, and 180 kts cruise. The objective of this proposal is to prove the airframe and energy configuration through a cost effective, low risk “Minimum Viable Scale” demonstrator of the SJX Nomad, wind tunnel testing of the proprietary airframe, and flight testing of the proprietary engine configuration of the SJX “Nomad”. As the final deliverable of the Phase 2 Work Plan, Orb Aerospace will provide a technology demonstration of the newly developed Orb at the National All Domain Warfighting Center between Camp Grayling and Alpena CRTC, Michigan.
