Research abstract

Spectral signatures in the LWIR can provide anomaly detection, chemical identification, and enable target discrimination.Ā While full-frame hyperspectral imaging is the ideal solution, such systems require compromises including size, weight, power, complexity, cost, and often simply do not exist at any price in a form factor useful to dismounted infantry.Ā Recent advances in microfabrication have enabled new detection strategies.Ā Nanohmics proposes to pursue a demonstration of a technology capable of providing high-efficiency multiband sensing that preserves the full spatial resolution of the underlying sensor.Ā Furthermore, the technology allows switching between multi-band and broadband operation within milliseconds without a change in physical hardware.
