Research abstract

Multispectral andÝnarrowband emitter arrays, integrated with a Read-In-Integrated Circuit (RIIC), are essential for advanced scene projector (SP) applications that aim to replicate complex, realistic environments for image sensor testing, calibration, and algorithm development. Future multispectral arrays will not only enable precise spectral tuning, but improve test and evaluation capabilities of state-of-the-art seekers, SP systems including more effective hardware-in-the-loop and live-virtual-constructiveÝÝtesting of missile warning systems. Furthermore, narrowband emission with high brightness will enable more precise spectral analysis, provide enhanced fidelity of SPs, and also offer the capability for improved wavelength selectivity for remote sensing applications. Nanohmics Inc., in collaboration with Chip Design Systems and with support from Lockheed Martin, proposes a novel technology for in-situ array pixelation that entails fabrication of multispectral quantum dot (QD) arrays in a single rapid processing step. Our proposed 4-color, QD emitter arrays will enable multispectral SP applications that span the full range from ultraviolet to midwave infrared. Nanohmicsí approach promises the first method to create pixel-registered QD emitters with selective size (i.e., emission wavelength) and provides a means to eliminateÝmultistep patterning or stamping transfer needed for conventional QD-based multicolor array fabrication.
