Research abstract

Operator-Centric Data-Fusion Kits (ODK) consist of edge compute and smart IoT devices to simplify the acquisition, processing, and analysis of sensor data from diverse types of sensors. They provide integrated capabilities for detection, recognition, triage, and exploitation of entities and objects across multiple spectra without need of a backhaul connection. The core capability layers consist of an Internet of Things (IoT) data fusion of multiple sensor modalities, device exploitation tools, recognition agents to assess information value, and Centralized Data Analysis Platform (CDAP) that detects patterns and correlations across the separately-collected data, triages collections for priority of analysis and alerts operators to opportunities for immediate action onsite. ODKs will enhance mission outcomes for Special Operations Forces (SOF) with autonomous detection, recognition, and exploitation throughout the operation. Machine-learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) enhance onsite exploitation analyses and prepare exfiltration data packages for offsite analysis. Automatic tagging and correlation of separately collected data increases the likelihood of exploiting highly perishable data for tactical decisions and follow-on mission planning.
