Research abstract

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) seeks improved product availability through increased competition for certain National Stock Numbers (NSN) with an annual demand of > $10,000 and fewer than two manufacturers. During Phase I, NanoSonic identified two parts whereby warfighters and the DLA would benefit from having an additional source from both economic and technical business cases. During Phase II of this program, NanoSonic shall complete the approval process to become an alternate source for: 1) parts 52-3583-2/3 NSN 1710-00-716-2994 (right), and 2) part RF835-3 NSN 5330-01-645-1488UB. The first item, identified in topic DLA172-001 is an Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) Critical Application Item (CAI), ram packing for the 82N catapult arresting gear adapter. The second item is a Lockheed Martin Aeronautics identified Critical Safety Item (CSI), elastomeric inflatable conductive canopy seal to support warfighter safety within the cabin of the high-altitude Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Operations U-2 Dragon Lady. During Phase II of this program, NanoSonic shall carry develop and deliver Source Approval Requests (SAR) to the DLA for NSNs 1710-00-716-2994 and 5330-01-645-1488 UB. We have teamed with Brighton Cromwell, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, Techsburg, and Cardinal Rubber & Seal to achieve all technical objectives herein.
