Research abstract

Team Trek10 is comprised of Trek10 Inc. along with the University of Notre Dame (ND) to provide Cloud Enablement Curriculum (CEC) to satisfy Air Force and Digital University concerns surrounding the teaching, training, enabling, and validating cloud computing skills across the Air Force. Team Trek10 will leverage its advanced SME background in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud as well as online learning to strengthen the Air Force’s newly implemented Digital University. The key skills that will be hosted via Digital U range from learning basic cyber hygiene to coding languages. Critically, despite the fact that cloud computing is wide-spread and pervasive, very few colleges and universities offer cloud computing degrees and the ones that do cannot offer real-world experience, which is critical.  Learning a theoretical topic in school vs. mastering the application is analogous to the progression from medical school to medical residency.  The first teaches information, the second turns that knowledge into practice….thus creating certified practitioners. CEC will utilize subject matter expertise from both Trek10 and Notre Dame in the area of cloud computing.  We drawn on our collective experience of teaching cloud computing and Notre Dame’s pedagogical and assessment expertise to create the curriculum.
