Research abstract

The ability to deliver oxygen to patients is an essential capability for deployed medical facilities that treat combat casualties and traumatic injuries.  The American College of Surgeons trauma treatment guidelines recommends that all trauma patients receive oxygen (O2) at a rate of at least 10 liters per minute (LPM). Current technology is either too large or provides insufficient oxygen flow rates in a portable manner to support the military medical arena. To enhance the military’s battlefield medical capabilities, TDA is developing its High Flow Portable Oxygen Generator (Hi-POG), an advanced Portable Oxygen Concentrator which uses its high performing oxygen generation technology capable of delivering up 6LPM of medical grade oxygen (>90%).  The system is designed for prolonged casualty care in austere environments, providing operational readiness in prolonged field care (PFC) scenarios operating on a battery for a minimum of 2 hours at a time.  Units can be tethered for increased oxygen flow or multi-patient support, offering flexibility in diverse operational environments. TDA’s patented high-performance material, and the system’s novel configuration improves the shelf life of the oxygen generator, ensuring that it is fully operational even after prolonged storage or intermittent use with minimal or no degradation, ensuring extended operational readiness.
