Research abstract

Nanohmics is developing a suite of software interfaces and utilities that integrate bioeffects software packages into the Galaxy framework. The Galaxy ElectroMagnetic Bioeffects Application Integration Suite (GEMBio-AIS) combines a modular approach to software interface development with a collection of convenience and interoperability utilities to make sophisticated bioeffects software more accessible to non-experts and to accelerate the construction of new analyses. The implementation of extensions to the design specifications and software utilities advanced during the Phase I program will result in an operational prototype of the GEMBio-AIS at the end of Phase II. The prototype will make the functionality of the complete suite of EM propagation and bioeffects software used by 711 HPW RHDO/RHDR, as well as selected open source 3D modeling software, accessible through both the Galaxy Graphical User Interface and the Galaxy Application Program Interface. It will also include a graphical Galaxy Tool editor, a set of pre-configured posable 3D anatomical models, a materials library, standardized file format conventions, and various custom utilities for linking, modifying, and analyzing the inputs and outputs of integrated software packages. To accelerate adoption of the technology, the GEMBio-AIS prototype will include a comprehensive collection of reference material for users and systems developers.
