Research abstract

During customer discovery as part of AF183-006 - Open Topic for Immersive Technologies - we discovered that Security Forces (SF) end-users have two distinct needs: improved VR hardware integration and SF-specific training content. We are applying for AF191-004 to focus on the niche but mission critical need for content that replicates the conditions for which Security Forces need to operate (content) and, therefore, for which they need to train. These non-flying war-fighters deserve the same quality of virtualized training that aviators are beginning to receive through initiatives like Pilot Training Next. We will evaluate the demand for Security Forces-specific VR training simulations and performance tracking via product testing followed by surveys and interviews. To ensure a broad and representative sample size, we will work with Squadrons of varying sizes, in geographically distinct regions, with a range of missions.
