Research abstract

Systima Technologies, Inc. in collaboration with Aerojet Rocketdyne is developing a dual-mode energetic system that incorporates an advanced dual-mode energetic formulation, technology for burn-rate control, and features for insensitive munitions and lethality performance. In the Phase I program, the team developed a prototype design and demonstrated a burn-rate control technology in laboratory system tests. In addition, the dual-mode energetic formulation was optimized for performance and cost. The Phase I performance models, test results, and lab tested prototype design will be the baseline for system design development in Phase II. The Phase I test results greatly reduced risk for fast-pace technology development in Phase II The Phase II program includes design updates and an integrated prototype system design. The Phase II program will culminate with a full-scale system-level live fire test with dual-mode energetic formulation.
