What capture readiness means
Capture readiness is the discipline behind how your team finds opportunities, decides what to pursue, gathers market context, plans before the RFP, produces compliant proposals, collaborates, documents decisions, and learns from outcomes. It is not a win probability model and not a ranking against other contractors.
Why capture maturity matters
Federal response windows are often short. Teams without consistent qualification, ownership, and decision memory waste proposal hours on poor fits — or miss strong fits because intake is chaotic. A structured capture system makes pursue/no-pursue calls faster and more explainable.
How scoring works
Each question uses a transparent scale: 0 Not in place, 1 Ad hoc, 2 Partially defined, 3 Consistent, 4 Measured / automated. Category scores and the overall score are normalized to 0–100 from your answers. Unanswered items count as 0 until completed.
Dimensions scored: Opportunity Discovery; Qualification / Bid-No-Bid; Market Intelligence; Capture Planning; Proposal Readiness; Collaboration / Ownership; Governance / Traceability; Measurement / Continuous Improvement.
Maturity levels
- 0–30 Reactive — Pursuit work is mostly firefighting. Decisions and ownership are informal.
- 31–50 Developing — Some practices exist, but they are uneven and hard to repeat across pursuits.
- 51–70 Structured — Core capture steps are defined and usually followed, with clear gaps remaining.
- 71–85 Advanced — Capture is disciplined across most pursuits; measurement and governance are forming.
- 86–100 Optimized — Capture is measured, owned, and continuously improved as an operating system.
How to improve
- Pick your three lowest categories from the scorecard result.
- Install one durable habit per category (owner, checklist, or log) within 30 days.
- Retake the scorecard after a full pursuit cycle to see what moved.
- Pair process changes with tools only where they remove friction — discovery alerts, qualification documentation, and decision history are the usual leverage points.

- What do the maturity bands mean?
- Reactive (0–30), Developing (31–50), Structured (51–70), Advanced (71–85), and Optimized (86–100). Bands describe process maturity only; they are not industry rankings or win-rate claims.
- Do I need an account or email to see my score?
- No. You can complete the scorecard and see results immediately without logging in. Email is optional if you want to keep a copy for yourself.
- Is this a benchmark against other contractors?
- No. The scorecard is a self-assessment of your own practices. It does not compare you to other companies or claim statistical market benchmarks.
