Research abstract

The advancement of multi-spectral scene projection (MSSP) technology is critical for the accurate calibration and validation of next-generation imaging sensors used in aerospace, defense, and remote sensing applications. This work proposes a novel MSSP system that integrates quantum materials to achieve dynamic, broadband, and high-resolution spectral scene generation. By leveraging the tunable optical properties of these materials, the system enables precise control over emission spectra spanning ultraviolet (UV) to mid-wave infrared (MWIR) bands. This approach overcomes key limitations in existing MSSP platforms, offering enhanced spectral coverage, spatial resolution, and dynamic range. The proposed system lays the groundwork for a new class of quantum-material-based MSSPs tailored for high-fidelity sensor testing and calibration.
