Research abstract

Alphacore is developing an Integrated Circuit Authentication and Reliability Tool that will allow the Air Force to identify and authenticate DER components after they have undergone the DER process. This will apply to older systems, that need replacement parts that are no longer in production and are generally not available from reliable supply sources. Alphacore will develop, fabricate, characterize and test a prototype system for determining the actual usage time of Die Extraction and Reassembly devices. The system comprises a paired dendritic timer device and a driver/measurement IC that are co-packaged with the DER host component. Sample timers were fabricated and characterized during Phase I, and the DMIC was designed. In Phase II the DMIC will be fabricated, packaged, tested, and characterized to determine its efficacy for measuring device usage over various periods. Objectives: 1) Combating die and IC recycling (CDIR) timer performance optimization (i.e. optimize process for resolution and total operation time). 2) Design, manufacture the driver/measurement integrated circuit (DMIC). 3) Evaluate CDIR device and DMIC CMOS functionality in a two chip solution and their integration in a smart Die extraction and reassembly (DER) package.4) Design, fabricate a single chip timer module (stand-alone IC)
