Research abstract

SI2 Technologies, Inc. (SI2) proposes to accelerate development of its Phase I additively-manufactured (AM), multi-material, structurally-integrated phased array antennas for spacecraft. To facilitate this effort, SI2 offers its unique combination of AM expertise and RF design expertise. For improved spacecraft SWAP-C, each SI2 array will be multifunctional, playing both an RF role (e.g., data Tx/Rx) and a structural role as a load-bearing spacecraft component. In Phase II, SI2 will design, manufacture and electrically, mechanically, thermally and environmentally test array structures to verify that array performance meets the defined requirements and thereby validate the design model and manufacturing approach. The validated design model can then be used to further transition the technology to commercial space structures operating at other RF bands.
